You Stay Classy, Max Hall

Congrats to the BYU Cougars on beating the Utes this year 26-23.  The Cougars outplayed the Utes and came away with a good win. Unfortunately, the focus has been taken off of the game for some dumb reasons. There has been a lot of talk and banter in these parts of the nation about these comments made after the game by Max Hall in regard to Utah:

"I don't like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, their fans. I hate everything," Hall said Saturday.

"It felt really good to send those guys home. I think the whole university and their fans and the organization is classless," Hall continued. "They threw beer on my family and stuff last year and did a whole bunch of nasty things. I don't respect them and they deserved to lose."

Now, a lot of people have their panties in a twist because this was obviously not a really smart thing to say.  Max represents a Christian University (and let's not remind him that the President of his church, and the president of his own University graduated from Utah) and because of that, he should probably have chosen his words more wisely.  But remax hallally, he's just an immature college kid whose emotions got the best of-err, I mean, he's TWENTY FREAKING FOUR, MARRIED AND WENT ON A MISSION.  Really, I don't care what Max Hall thinks about Utah.  I kind of like that he actually just spoke his mind and said it like he sees it, wether it was idiotic or not.

The only problem I have with it, is that after the way Max Hall played Saturday, he really just needs to keep his damn mouth shut and be greatful for the win.  In fact, in 3 career games against Utah, here is how Hall has fared:

50/113 ATT/COMP
44.2% COMPLETION%
608 YDS
2 TDS
6 INTS
84.7 RATING (Would be a 45.1 Rating in the NFL, which uses a different system.)

I know the Cougars were 2-1 against Utah over this span, but Hall had little to do with it, with the defense keeping BYU in the2 wins and Hall almost single handedly giving the loss away to Utah last year.

Yes, Hall made a few big plays in the game, but my point is this: if you played like crap, don't degrade the other team, just be happy for the win and keep your mouth shut.

Oh, and one other thing, Maxi, stop dropping so many "F-Bombs" on the sideline and tell Harvery Unga to stop yelling "G-D" as well, please, it isn't becoming of you.

THE END

Then maybe you should be grateful that Max gave you your lone victory in the last three years. If it weren't for him, the better team would have won and your BCS dreams wouldn't have been realized. A lot of pukes are hating on the man they should love most. If John Beck was under center in '08, there's no way Puketah wins that game.

If you are referring to 08, the better team already won. Just like it probably did this year.

please stop pointing fingers at byu players that swear. Do you swear? I think you might have said a few bad words in your life; I don't know though, maybe you are perfect. Do Utah players swear? I bet not one of them does, right? Give me a break. This is football, quit bringing religion into it. Yes, we all know byu is a church school and stands for something. So when a utah player swears what does he stand for? Does it make it ok? C'mon, it's football and should be looked at as football and nothing else.
I applaud Max for not saying anything for as long as he did about what happened to his family at the Utah game last year. If that happened to my family I probably would have done something that got me kicked out of the school right away. And to close, don't act like what Max said hasn't been said on both sides for years and years and years. Just because it was said on tv by Max Hall doesn't mean you need to crucify him. I know plenty of Utah football players and have spoken with them since and they say that coach Whit has said pretty much the same thing at practice about BYU. Yep, coming straight from the mouth of a Utah player. So don't think Max is the only "classless" talker out there; he just has the balls to say it in public. Who cares how he played; you play to win the game! Tell em Herm Edwards!

Max Hall is a douche bag. I think his own team thinks so too. Have fun holding a clipboard in Europe.

I would hardly call the article crucifying. I mean, all I really say is, if you played like shit, don't talk. That's a good rule for anybody on any team.

Dear Nate_dogg,

If you actually believe the accusations Hall made about what allegedly happened to his family, you were probably sitting front row to the Utah Flash game so you could see MJ as well. Let's think through this whole beer-pouring incident for a minute.

1. Utah fan sneaks beer, a banned substance, into RES.
2. Utah fan does not drink the said beer during the 3.5-hour game.
3. Utah fan finds Hall's family.
4. Utah fan pours beer on Hall's family after the game.

First, if you are going to sneak an alcoholic beverage into RES, why would you choose beer? You would spend the entire game in the bathroom if you snuck enough beer into the stadium to get a buzz, not to mention the difficulty of sneaking the required quantity into the game.

Second, a Utah fan would never stare at a beer for 3.5 hours... I know Utah fans, and, trust me, that beer is gone by the end of the first quarter.

Third, how would they know who was Hall's family so they could harass them?

Fourth, a Utah fan does not waste beer. Again, trust me on this one.

Bottom line: the alleged beer incidents never happened. Hall has just upset that he can't perform under pressure. He is ticked off that Ute fans found the homo-erotic pictures of him, Pitta, and Collie on the Internet. He can't stand the injustice that, because he makes a weekly 3-hour appearance at a local chapel, a more worldly team (Utah) would have more success than he has had.

Hall is a choker and a coward. While several Utes have stated their hatred for TDS in the past, none have done so after their final games, none have called out the entire university, and none have claimed they are more deserving to win because they believe their action have given them more favor in the eyes of Deity.

Also, people should call BYU players out for cussing and acts of poor sportsmanship because of the coach's public attitude of superiority. Afterall, the coach and players are ones telling us that they "live a higher standard."
